Katy Perry, an American singer and songwriter was raised in a strict, conservative family. Her first gospel song was performed in her teens after spending growing up in the Church. Even though it was not allowed by her parents, Perry experienced all types of music provided to her by her peers, because she had an interest in music in the beginning. As an outspoken person she remained true to her dream of becoming an artist, and pursued her dreams. Her breakthrough came not easy and she had to face many hurdles. She had to put many of her tracks on hold prior to signing with "Capitol Records. This was the moment she began her career as a performer and has not was able to go back after. The next album, 'Teenage Dreams' was received a huge response from music fans as well as one of the most popular albums of all time. Katy Perry became a well-known artist after this album. It set records for many genres. Perry is known not just for writing songs and recording them but as well for her charity work as well, has a variety of interests. She is also an activist and promotes LGBT rights.
