She has covered the sports scene for major media outlets all over the world. She worked for The Washington Post nearly a decade, covering Grand Slam Tennis and Grand Slam Football, as well as basketball at multiple Olympics. Nichols started a nine-year period at ESPN which saw her win two Emmy Awards, and featured on many of ESPN's top programs like NFL Countdown and SportsCenter. She also reported for TBS reporting on golf and baseball broadcasts as well as Final Four broadcasts on CBS. It was the only time in the award's 42-year-old history that a woman was included among the over 200 nominees.
